ANALISIS MIKROSTRUKTUR LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE MENGGUNAKAN GLASS POWDER DENGAN VARIASI UKURAN GLASS POWDER

The use of lightweight concrete is commonly found in structures to minimize the total dead load of Glass powder on the microstructure and compressive strength properties of concrete, focusing on X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) testing after curing for 28 days. In this study, test samples were taken from concrete fragments that had been tested for specific gravity and compressive strength. The results showed that the specific gravity of concrete increased with the finer size of glass powder used, namely 1274 kg/m³ for 10 mesh glass powder, 1346.1 kg/m³ for 30 mesh, and 1398 kg/m³ for 50 mesh. The compressive strength of the concrete also increased, with values of 2.58 MPa, 2.87 MPa, and 3.175 MPa respectively, indicating a positive relationship between the finer particle size of glass powder and the increase in specific gravity and compressive strength of the concrete. XRD analysis results revealed that the sample with 50 mesh glass powder had the highest amorphous percentage, at 96.06%, which contributed to the strength of the concrete as it decreased the crystalline strength which can make the concrete more brittle. Meanwhile, SEM testing showed that at 50 mesh size, there were more C-S-H (Calcium Silicate Hydrate) formed, resulting in a denser concrete matrix with small pores, as opposed to the results at 10 mesh and 30 mesh size which showed many large pores and incomplete reaction, resulting in decreased compressive strength.
