PERENCANAAN DAN PERANCANGAN PUSAT SENI KERAJINAN DI KOTA PALEMBANG
The city of Palembang is rich in diverse arts and culture, one of which is craft art. However, crafting activities in the city of Palembang are starting to disappear due to lack of adequate facilities and public knowledge about craft art. To addres this issue, a Craft Art Center design is needed as a place to preserve and develope the sustainability of craft art in the city of Palembang. This design adopts a sustainable architectural approach that focuses on the use of sustainable materials, namely Glulam wood. Glulam Wood is engineered wood formed from layers of timber bonded with structural adhesives. The wood used comes from production forest, minimizing environmental damage. This building adopts the traditional architecture style of the Palembang limas house which predominantly uses wood materials. The shape of the limas house allows the building to adapt to its surroundings. The Craft Art Center building is directly adjacent to the Sekanak River tributary, maximizing natural lighting and ventilation with openings oriented towards the river. With the establishment of this Craft Art Center, it is hoped that it will attract the public to visit so that the craft art in the city of Palembang can be preserved and developed.
