PERAN DIREKTORAT JENDERAL BEA DAN CUKAI SUMATERA BAGIAN TIMUR DALAM MEMAJUKAN USAHA MIKRO KECIL MENENGAH (UMKM) BERORIENTASI EKSPOR DI WILAYAH SUMATERA SELATAN
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are a community-based business activity that can increase income, equalize the economy in society, and also provide employment opportunities which for many years have accounted for more than 50% of the contribution to Indonesia's GDP. Of course, developing MSMEs requires full support of many parties, including the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Some of the problems that MSMEs often face are lack of capital, operational problems, training, licensing and taxation. Considering the contribution made by MSMEs by opening employment opportunities as well as increasing competition and increasing GDP MSMEs need more attention. Therefore, the objective of this study is to reveal the role of the government through the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in facilitating MSMEs to develop the country by simplifying the export process so they can enter the international market. The theory used in this study is the Theory of Economic Nationalism. The research method used is a qualitative method. The results of this study reveal that the government intervention, namely the role of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise in advancing export-oriented MSMEs in the Sumatra Region with DJBC Sumbagtim carrying out its duties as a Trade Facilitator and Industrial Assistance, where Customs and Excise provides support to MSMEs through training held and providing facilities and convenience in carrying out exports, namely the KITE IKM facility. In carrying out its role, customs and excise also still requires participation of various related parties
