DINAMIKA SOSIAL EKONOMI PETANI KARET DI DESA EPIL KECAMATAN LAIS KABUPATEN MUSI BANYUASIN TAHUN 2016-2020

This study aims to determine the socio-economic conditions of rubber farmers in Epil Village, Lais District, Musi Banyuasin Regency in 2016–2020, as well as analyze the factors that affect them and the impact of rubber price fluctuations. This research is motivated by significant fluctuations in rubber prices in the last five years and its impact on farmers' welfare. The method used is a historical method with a sociological and economic approach. Data collection techniques include literature studies, observations, and direct interviews with farmers and village officials. The results of the study show that the number of rubber farmers in Epil Village tends to be fixed, which is 692 people, with a land area of about 1,270 hectares. Farmers' incomes fluctuate, with the highest income occurring in 2017 and the lowest in 2018. Rubber production and prices greatly affect the economic stability of farmers. When prices are high, farmers are able to meet basic needs and improve their living standards. But when prices plummeted, many farmers experienced economic difficulties and reduced wiretapping activities. Price fluctuations also affect social quality of life such as education and health.
