DIPLOMASI PERTAHANAN INDONESIA DENGAN TURKI SEBAGAI UPAYA MEMODERNISASI ALUTSISTA INDONESIA PERIODE 2021-2023

Indonesia is the 15th largest country in the world with abundant natural resources and is ranked 4th as the country with the largest population in the world. Indonesia needs great strength to be able to protect its territorial sovereignty and ensure security for its citizens, by strengthening its national protection. The defense equipment owned by Indonesia is currently more than 25 years old on average, so modernization of the defense equipment is needed so that Indonesia has strong deterrence as an effort to prepare the TNI in maintaining the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia. This study analyzes the defense diplomacy carried out by Indonesia and Turkey with a focus on efforts to modernize Indonesia's defense equipment for the 2021-2023 period using qualitative research methods and data collection techniques through literature studies. The results of the study show that defense diplomacy in the 2021-2023 period was carried out through several activities from the three main characters of Indonesian defense diplomacy through CBMs activities, defense capabilities and the defense industry. The success of Indonesia's security diplomacy can be seen from the intensity of meetings, visits, and forums between the two countries to discuss security cooperation, followed by cooperation to improve Indonesia's security capabilities by purchasing defense equipment from Turkey, which is willing to provide security technology knowledge through technology transfer and joint production to improve the progress and independence of Indonesia's defense industry..
