KONSERVASI AIR UNTUK MENDUKUNG PERTUMBUHAN TANAMAN SAYURAN PADA MUSIM KEMARAU DENGAN MENGGUNAKAN TABUNG
This research aimed to obtain a conservation method using water tubes below the soil surface to support vegetable cultivation during the dry season. The research was conducted from May 2024 to June 2024 at the Agrotech Training Center (ATC) of Sriwijaya University, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. The study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) method. The research process started with the calculation of effective rainfall over the last 10 years (2012-2022), with the highest effective rainfall occurring in March and the lowest in August. The calculation of ET0 used the Penman method, with the highest ET0 value occurring in September and the lowest in December. The relationship between ET0 and rainfall over the last 10 years showed that the availability of rainfall only in March required supplementary irrigation water, while the rest did not need supplementation or additional irrigation water. The results of soil texture analysis using the hydrometer method showed that the soil type was sandy clay. The highest soil porosity values were found in sample 1 replication 3 (10 cm), while the lowest soil porosity values were in sample 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 treatments 1. The highest Bulk Density value was in sample 12 treatment 1, and the lowest Bulk Density values were in samples 1 treatment 3. The wetting rate with the soil samples below had the highest water content, while the top soil samples had relatively low water content. Observation of water conservation for 10 days between soils that use storage containers or tubes and those that do not use tubes, those that do not use thick tubes, the water content stored in the soil only reaches 4 days, while those that use tubes can reach 7 days, so they can save 9 water.
