PENGARUH EXPRESSIVE WRITING THERAPY TERHADAP TINGKAT STRES AKADEMIK PADA REMAJA DI PONDOK PESANTREN AULIA CENDEKIA PALEMBANG
Academic stress is a psychological pressure arising from learning demands, particularly among adolescents living in Islamic boarding schools, who are required to balance academic and religious activities. This condition may adversely affect adolescents' psychological well-being. One effective method for reducing academic stress is expressive writing therapy, which involves writing activities focused on the expression of emotions and personal experiences. This study aimed to examine the effect of expressive writing therapy on academic stress levels among adolescents at Aulia Cendekia Islamic Boarding School, Palembang, before and after the intervention. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample was selected using probability sampling with a proportionate stratified random sampling technique, involving 54 respondents. Data were collected using the Educational Stress Scale for Adolescents (ESSA) questionnaire. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon matched-pairs test. The results indicated a significant reduction in academic stress levels following the intervention, as demonstrated by the Wilcoxon matched-pairs test with a p-value of 0.000. These findings suggest that expressive writing therapy is effective in reducing academic stress and may serve as a non-pharmacological alternative intervention for managing academic stress among adolescents in Islamic boarding schools.
