PREVALENSI AMELOBLASTOMA DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN TAHUN 2020-2024
Background: Ameloblastoma was the most commonly found benign odontogenic tumor in the mandible. This tumor showed aggresive local growth and was often diagnosed late due to its non-specific early symptoms. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of ameloblastoma at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, based on age, gender , tumor location, histopathological type, and treatment during the 2020–2024 period.Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive study that analyzed 162 medical records using a purposive sampling technique. The data were presented in the form of frequency distribution and percentages.Results: A total of 78 cases of ameloblastoma were found. The highest number of cases occurred in the 30–39 year age group (28.2%) and most patients were male (55.1%). The most common location was the left side of the mandible (85.9%). The most frequent histopathological type was multicystic (84.6%). Resection was the most common treatment (80.8%).Conclusion: A significant number of ameloblastoma cases were found at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital during 2020– 2024, highlighting the importance of early detection and appropriate treatment to prevent recurrence.
