PEMANFAATAN FLOATING ACTIONS BUTTON (FAB) DALAM PERANCANGAN USER INTERFACE PADA SISTEM INFORMASI AKADEMIK UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
The ease of users in accessing an information system is greatly influenced by the interface layout. Based on previous studies, the Academic Information System of Sriwijaya University shows that the layout of several navigation menus is not well organized, and the website display on mobile devices remains too crowded." This research aims to utilize the Floating Action Button (FAB) design element in the user interface of the Academic Information System at Universitas Sriwijaya. The method which applied in this study was Task-Centered System Design (TCSD), which includes needs analysis, redesign, and evaluation through usability testing. Assessing the effectiveness of FAB implementation, usability testing was conducted with two design versions—one with FAB and one without—using the Maze platform. The results show that the prototype with FAB achieved a usability score of 84 (High category), while the version without FAB scored 73 (Medium category). These findings indicate that FAB implementation successfully addresses issues of a cluttered and inefficient UI design. Moreover, the application of FAB has been proven to positively impact usability.
