PERANCANGAN PERAHU LISTRIK KAPASITAS DUA ORANG

Arrafi As, Mohd. Farras - Personal Name;

The development of solar panel-powered electric boats for use in lake waters requires in-depth research given the unique characteristics of lake waters. Although water currents in lakes are calmer than the sea, more extreme weather conditions, varying water depths, and interactions with ecosystems within the lake pose challenges. This research aims to explore the potential and challenges in the development of solar panel-powered electric boats in Indonesian lakes. The use of Hullspeed-Maxsurf software in the calculation of resistance and propulsion power is an important step in the design of solar passenger boats. With a hull efficiency of 85 per cent and a customised method based on the algorithms available in this software, an accurate estimation of the boat's performance under various operational conditions was produced. The calculation results show that the boat is about 4.0 metres long, 114.29 cm wide, 23.86 cm laden, and 205.72 cm high. These dimensions provide good stability as well as adequate capacity for tourism passengers. The 1.5 HP (1.11855 kW) electric motor is capable of providing a maximum speed of 5 knots. For the energy source, two monocrystalline solar panels with a power of 240 Wp each are used, which with an efficiency of 80% can fulfil the daily energy needs of the electric motor. A deep cycle battery with a capacity of 46,607 Ah at 48V is used to store energy from the solar panels. This battery is enough to power the boat's motor for about 2.5 hours at maximum speed. At a speed of 5 knots, the boat can travel up to 23.16 kilometres before the battery runs out, with a total travel time of about 2.5 hours. The results of this study show that solar panel-powered electric boats have great potential to be used as an efficient and environmentally friendly transport solution in Indonesian lake waters.
