UPAYA INDONESIA MENJADI TUAN RUMAH FIFA WORLD CUP U-17 TAHUN 2023
This research discusses the efforts made by Indonesia at the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup to host the event. On October 24 2019, FIFA appointed Peru to host the 2021 U-17 world cup and Indonesia was appointed to host the 2021 U-20 world cup. Then the Covid-19 pandemic emerged which forced FIFA to postpone these two big agendas. And it's true that Gianni Infantino as the head of FIFA again appointed Peru and Indonesia to host the 2023 edition. However, on March 29 2023 FIFA declared cancellation and removed Indonesia from hosting the 2023 U-20 world cup before finally ending on Friday, June 23 2023 FIFA President Gianni Infantino at the FIFA Council meeting in Switzerland appointed Indonesia as the host of the U-17 World Cup replacing Peru. In this research the author used descriptive qualitative research methods and negotiation theory from Robert Fisher and William Ury as analytical tools. So Indonesia's efforts to host the U-17 World Cup are by holding negotiations between PSSI and FIFA. Even though the initial aim of the negotiations was not to become hosts, these negotiations were the first step that would determine the fate of Indonesian football in the next few years. We pray for Indonesian football, hopefully the experience of hosting the U-17 World Cup can be a stepping stone to become even better and hopefully one day Indonesia can play in the World Cup.
