PRAKTIK DAN MAKNA SOSIAL TRADISI BERARAK PETANG DI DESA PEDAMARAN KABUPATEN OGAN KOMERING ILIR PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN
This research examines the Practice and Social Meaning of the Berarak Petang Tradition in Pedamaran Village, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. Berarak Petang is a tradition of a bridal procession followed by relatives, family, neighbors, and friends to circle the village with the aim of letting the public know that the bride and groom are legally husband and wife. This tradition is part of the procession or stages in the marriage process in Pedamaran Village, which is carried out in the afternoon after the marriage ceremony takes place. This research aims to find out and understand the social practices and meaning of the Berarak Petang tradition in Pedamaran Village, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with an ethnographic research strategy. The data in this research was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews with ten informants, documentation, and literature study. This research uses the concept of Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic meaning triangle theory approach. The results of this research show that there are social bonds based on togetherness, social cohesion, and strong social harmony between family, relatives, and also the community who follow the Berarak Petang tradition.
