KETERLEKATAN BURUH TANI KARET DENGAN PEMILIK KEBUN DI 4 DESA KECAMATAN SEMENDAWAI SUKU III KABUPATEN OKU TIMUR

This study aims to analyze the dimensions and forms of embeddedness in the relationship between rubber plantation workers and farm owners in four villages within Semendawai Suku III Subdistrict OKU Timur Regency. Using a qualitative approach and Granovetter’s theory of social embeddedness, the research reveals that embeddedness is constructed through two main dimensions: rational and structural. The rational dimension is reflected in economic needs and mutual considerations between both parties, while the structural dimension is evident in social networks, local norms, and socio-economic structures that bind the relationship. The forms of embeddedness found include patron-client relations, economic dependence, and long-term loyalty, reinforced through profit-sharing systems, social assistance, and informal wage patterns. Plantation workers tend to remain with the same farm owner due to limited alternative employment and strong social ties. This study recommends strengthening institutional support and economic access for workers to foster a more equitable and just relationship.
