Effects of Garlic (Allium sativum L.,) Botanical Insecticide Application on The Arthropods Diversity of Bottle Gourd (Lagenaria siceraria L.,) in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam

Bottle gourd is one of the vegetables that Vietnamese people like as an ingredient in cuisines or as a snacks. Besides cuisines and snacks, bottle gourds are famous known as herbal medicines in many countries such as India, China, European countries, Brazil, and Hawaiian islands. The nutrients contained in it, such as vitamins B (B1,B2, B3, and B5), vitamin C, calcium, iron, magnesium, and potassium make bottle gourd liked by society. During the planting season, there are several groups of pests that attack, one of which is the arthropod pest insect group such as, Lasius niger, Paraeucosmetus pallicornis D., Coccinellidae, Araneae, Diaphania indica and many more. With a high level of arthropod diversity in bottle gourd plants, the author conducted research by looking at the level of influence of insecticides; one of the bioinsecticides applied was derived from garlic extract. Garlic contains diallyl disulphide and diallyl trysulphide which are a powerful insecticide. Use garlic extract as bioinsecticide has a small possible risk to the environment; otherwise, it is safe for environment and environmentally friendly based on sustainable development goals.
