KERJASAMA KANTOR IMIGRASI KELAS I TPI PALEMBANG DAN PERUSAHAAN DI KOTA PALEMBANG DALAM MENGATASI PERSOALAN KEIMIGRASIAN TENAGA KERJA ASING (TKA)

The Class I Immigration Office of TPI Palembang frequently uncovers cases of misuse of residence permits by foreigners in its jurisdiction. Foreign nationals who violate immigration administrative regulations will be promptly dealt with. To prevent the presence of illegal foreign workers, the Immigration Office empowers Timpora. Although foreign investment is important for regional development, its negative impacts must also be monitored. Therefore, Timpora needs to conduct measured and not excessive supervision. To strengthen Timpora, Palembang Immigration coordinates and collaborates with related agencies such as the district/city government, the military, and the police. The aim of this study is to understand and analyze the duties and authorities of the Palembang Immigration Office as well as its cooperation with companies in Palembang in preventing violations of the foreign visitor stay permit limits. This study reveals challenges in preventing the misuse of Visit Stay Permits, such as the vast area of Palembang City that limits the monitoring reach over foreign nationals, the insufficient number of immigration officers, weak communication and coordination between related agencies, and the lack of public participation in reporting and assisting Immigration in preventing the misuse of Foreign Visitor Stay Permits. This situation provides opportunities for foreign workers to collaborate with companies in Palembang and misuse immigration stay permits.
