KESUBURAN PERAIRAN BERDASARKAN NITRAT, FOSFAT DAN KLOROFIL-A DI PERAIRAN PULAU PAHAWANG
The waters of Pahawang Island are very important water areas, both from an ecological and economic perspective. These waters are influenced by water activity factors from the mainland in the form of population activities, tourism activities, aquaculture, or plantations. The consequences of activities carried out by the community in the waters of Pahawang Island can affect the quality of these waters. This can result in the preservation of natural resources being disturbed, including the fertility of the waters on Pahawang Island. This study aims to determine the level of water fertility and the relationship of physical and chemical parameters in the waters of Pahawang Island. This study was conducted using the purposive sampling method for determining research stations and seawater sampling. Analysis of seawater samples was carried out in the laboratory to determine the content of nitrates, phosphate and chlorophyll-a. The results of this study were obtained based on the nitrate content in the mesotrophic (medium) status, phosphate content in eutrophic to hypertrophic status and chlorophyll-a content in oligotrophic (low) fertility status. The relationship between chlorophyll-a content in the waters of Pahawang Island and physical and chemical parameters is most characterized by the brightness of the waters. Further research on the relationship of chlorophyll-a concentration to physico-chemical parameters in the waters of Pahawang Island should be carried out over a longer period of time.
