KELIMPAHAN DAN SEBARAN VERTIKAL FITOPLANKTON DI PERAIRAN MUARA SUNGAI MUSI KABUPATEN BANYUASIN

Hidayat, Syarif - Personal Name;

Phytoplankton is the main producer organism in the food chain. The high activity of people in the waters of the Musi River Estuary can affect the abundance of phytoplankton. This study aims to determine the type and composition, describe the abundance and distribution and analyse the structure of phytoplankton communities and their relationship with physico-chemical parameters of waters vertically. The research was conducted in September 2023. The research stages consisted of phytoplankton water sampling, nutrient water sampling and measurement of physico-chemical parameters, then analysed based on composition, abundance, distribution and community structure, as well as their relationship using PCA analysis. The results showed the composition and abundance of 0 m, 3 m, and 6 m depths were 46 genera, 42 genera, and 46 genera, respectively, with abundances ranging from 474-4.281 cells/L, 250-3.031 cells/L, and 408-4.029 cells/L. The vertical distribution of phytoplankton abundance at 6 m surface depth has high values and the horizontal distribution is higher towards the outside of the estuary. The surface depth of 0 m has a diversity index of medium criteria, except station 1 low criteria, uniformity of medium to high criteria and there is dominance at station 1. Depths of 3 m and 6 m diversity of medium criteria, uniformity at high criteria and no dominant species. The abundance of surface depth 0 m has a positive relationship with DO, while at a depth of 3 m and 6 m with pH and salinity. Phytoplankton diversity at 0 m surface depth has a positive relationship with salinity, while at 3 m depth with pH and salinity. Uniformity and dominance at 0 m surface depth had a positive relationship with brightness, nitrate, and current. Dominance at 3 m depth had a positive relationship with nitrate and temperature.
