GAMBARAN MODALITAS PENCITRAAN KEPALA PASIEN MENINGIOMA DI RUMAH SAKIT DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE JANUARI 2024 - OKTOBER 2025
Meningioma is the most commonly diagnosed primary tumor of the central nervous system, with the majority being benign (WHO Grade I). Imaging modalities such as CT-Scan and MRI play a crucial role in the diagnosis and evaluation of meningioma. This study aims to describe the imaging features of brain scans in meningioma patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang during the period of January 2024 – October 2025. This study is a descriptive observational research with a cross-sectional design using secondary data obtained from the Medical Records and Radiology Departments of Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital during the specified period. A total of 121 meningioma patients were included in this study. The majority were aged ≥40 years (80.2%) and female (91.7%). Most tumors were found to be benign grade (77.7%) and most commonly located at the convexity area (MRI 39.8%, CT-Scan 39.1%). The dural tail sign was seen in 68,9% of MRI examinations, while peritumoral edema was found in 59.4% (MRI) and 40.6% (CT-Scan). Mass effect was observed in 84.4% of CT-Scan images. Lesions were isointense on T1-weighted MRI (82.5%), hyperintense on T2-weighted MRI (55.3%), and hyperdense on CT-Scan (48.4%). Bone exostosis was seen in 11.6% of cases. Contrast enhancement was reported in 82.6% of MRI scans and 23.1% of CT-Scans. Based on these findings, MRI demonstrates more detailed and characteristic imaging features of meningioma, such as the dural tail sign. The dural tail sign, mass effect, and peritumoral edema are the most frequently observed imaging findings. Meanwhile, CT-scan commonly reveals mass effect, calcification, and peritumoral edema.
