SINTESIS KOMPOSIT Fe3O4-SDS SEBAGAI ADSORBEN UNTUK ADSORPSI ZAT WARNA CONGO RED
Congo red dye is widely used in industry, one of them is textile industry. Congo red dye waste if it enters the environment without proper processing will cause environmental pollution. Fe3O4 and Fe3O4-SDS (1:1) composite were used for the adsorption of congo red dye by synthesizing using the coprecipitation method and characterized using XRD, FTIR, VSM and BET. The XRD characterization results show a 2θ angle that is similar to JCPDS 65-3107 of Fe3O4. The FTIR characterization results show that there are Fe-O groups, S=O groups, S-O groups and aromatic C-H groups. Fe3O4 and Fe3O4-SDS (1:1) composite have a saturation magnetization of 58.89 emu/g and 55.13 emu/g. The surface area of Fe3O4 and Fe3O4-SDS (1:1) composite are 67.015 m2/g and 45.283 m2/g. The optimum condition for Fe3O4 was at contact time of 150 minutes with concentration of 250 mg/L and temperature of 30 oC. The optimum condition for Fe3O4-SDS (1:1) composite was at contact time of 120 minutes with concentration of 200 mg/L and temperature of 50 oC. The adsorption kinetics of Fe3O4 is pseudo first order kinetics, while Fe3O4-SDS (1:1) composite is pseudo second order kinetics. The Fe3O4 adsorption isotherm is the Freundlich adsorption isotherm, while the Fe3O4-SDS (1:1) composite is the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The adsorption process for Fe3O4 is exothermic and occur non-spontaneously, while Fe3O4-SDS (1:1) composite is endothermic and occurs non-spontaneously.
