KARAKTERISTIK KOMPLIKASI PADA PASIEN LUKA BAKAR LISTRIK DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2021–2024
Background. Electrical burns are thermal injuries with high morbidity that can lead to multisystem complications, including musculoskeletal, neurological, renal, and cardiovascular disorders. Local data regarding the characteristics of electrical burn complications remain limited; therefore, this study aimed to provide a comprehensive clinical overview. Methods. This descriptive observational study with a case series design used secondary data from medical records of electrical burn patients treated at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang during 2021–2024. Samples were selected using total sampling, and data were analyzed univariately using SPSS version 27, presented as frequency distributions. Results. A total of 29 patients met the inclusion criteria, mostly aged 18–59 years (79.3%) and male (93.1%). Low-voltage burns were most common (51.7%) with 1-10% TBSA (51.7%) and full-thickness depth (75.9%). Complications occurred in 48.3% of patients, predominantly involving the musculoskeletal system (55.6%), followed by renal and neurological systems (16.7% each). All patients (100%) survived at the end of treatment. Conclusion. Electrical burn patients were predominantly productive-age males exposed to low-voltage electricity. The most frequent complications affected the musculoskeletal system, indicating the need for multidisciplinary monitoring to prevent further complications.
