PREVALENSI DAN POLA KEPEKAAN Acinetobacter Baumannii PADA PASIEN INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (ICU) RS DR.MOHAMMAD HOESIN PERIODE 2023-2024
Background: Acinetobacter baumannii is an opportunistic pathogen that frequently causes nosocomial infections, especially in patients treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). This bacterium is known for its resistance to many types of antibiotics and has shown a rising trend in infection rates over the past few years. Methods: This study is a retrospective descriptive research that utilizes medical record and laboratory data from ICU patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital throughout 2023-2024. The obtained data were then analyzed univariately and presented in tables and graphs. Results: Of the 710 isolates, the highest prevalence of Acinetobacter baumannii in ICU patients was caused by MDR-Ab (35.6%) and CRAB (60.8%), with 75.6% of the isolates originating from sputum. Acinetobacter baumannii overall showed the best sensitivity to amikacin (76.2%) and tigecycline (65.8%), and the lowest sensitivity to ceftriaxone (4.9%). Sensitivity testing against Acinetobacter baumannii showed a decrease in sensitivity to tigecycline by 5.1% in the fourth period compared to the first period. The sensitivity test results also indicated that CRAB had lower sensitivity than MDR-Ab to tigecycline (47.1%) and amikacin (57.4%). Conclusion: This study demonstrates the high prevalence of Acinetobacter baumannii infections in the ICU, with a dominance of resistant strains such as MDR-Ab and CRAB. These findings highlight the importance of implementing a more stringent Antibiotic Resistance Control Program (PPRA) and careful antibiotic management to prevent the spread of resistance.
