PROFIL PASIEN YANG MENJALANI OPERASI KATUP AORTA ATAU MITRAL DI RS MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2023-2025

Mediansyah, Muhammad Fakhri - Personal Name;

Background: Heart valve disease is a structural or functional abnormality of the cardiac valves that can lead to significant hemodynamic disturbances and increased morbidity and mortality. Aortic or mitral valve surgery is the definitive treatment for severe stenosis or regurgitation. Data regarding the profile of patients undergoing heart valve surgery at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang remain limited. This study aimed to describe the profile of patients undergoing aortic or mitral valve surgery at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang from January 2023 to January 2025. Methods: This study was a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design using secondary data from medical records. Total sampling was applied. Variables analyzed included age, sex, type of valve disease, comorbidities, type of prosthetic valve, duration of surgery, number of packed red cell (PRC) transfusions, length of hospital stay, postoperative echocardiographic indicators, and patient outcomes. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis. Results: A total of 64 patients met the inclusion criteria. Most patients were aged 26–44 years (42.2%) and were female (57.8%). The most common valve disease was mitral regurgitation (45.3%), and most patients had comorbidities (85.9%). Mechanical valves were the most frequently used prostheses (71.9%). The majority of surgeries lasted 3–6 hours (65.6%) and required 2–4 units of PRC transfusions (78.1%). Most patients had a hospital stay of less than 11 days (53.1%), no postoperative valve leakage, and 98.4% survived. Conclusion: Patients undergoing aortic or mitral valve surgery at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital Palembang were predominantly young adults and female, with mitral valve disease as the most common indication and generally favorable postoperative outcomes Keywords: heart valve disease, aortic valve, mitral valve, heart valve surgery, patient profile
