This study discusses the comparison of the breakdown voltage values of sunflower seed oil before and after being added with Ascorbic Acid and Tertiary Butyl Hydroquinone (TBHQ) to obtain a filler composition with maximum breakdown voltage strength. Tests were carried out on sunflower seed oil samples with the addition of antioxidants Ascorbic Acid (C₆H₈O₆) and Tertiary Butyl Hydroquinone (TBHQ) at concentrations of 0,1; 0,2; 0,3; 0,4 wt%. The results of the breakdown voltage test on SSO given each addition of antioxidants Ascorbic Acid (C₆H₈O₆) and Tertiary Butyl Hydroquinone (TBHQ) with concentrations of 0,1 wt%; 0,2 wt%; 0,3 wt%, and 0,4 wt% were 28,62 kV; 36,84 kV; 36,05 kV, and 30,08 kV for Ascorbic Acid (C₆H₈O₆) antioxidant, 31,01 Kv; 28,09 kV; 37,6 kV, and 22,7 kV for Tertiary Butyl Hydroquinone (TBHQ). These results indicate that the addition of Ascorbic Acid (C₆H₈O₆) antioxidant tends to increase the breakdown voltage with the highest increase at a concentration of 0,2 wt% of 17,11%. This study indicates that the addition of Ascorbic Acid (C₆H₈O₆) antioxidant to sunflower seed oil has the potential to be used as an alternative to transformer oil because it is renewable and environmentally friendly.
