KARAKTERISTIK KLINIKOSITOPATOLOGI PENDERITA SERVISITIS KRONIS DI RSUP Dr. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2022-2024
Background. Chronic cervicitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the cervix lasting for more than three months and is frequently found in women of reproductive age. This condition can be caused by microbial infections, trauma, or other non-infectious factors. This study aims to describe the clinical cytopathological characteristics of patients with chronic cervicitis at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during the period of 2022-2024, with a focus on risk factors such as age, parity, and contraceptive use, as well as to evaluate the clinical-cytopathological characteristics. Methods. This study is a descriptive research using a retrospective quantitative design approach by collecting medical record data from patients diagnosed with chronic cervicitis during a specified period. The data obtained include age, parity, type of contraception used, and the results of cytopathological examination from Pap smears. Data analysis was performed descriptively using statistical tools to illustrate the distribution of the clinical-cytopathological characteristics of the patients. Results. Of the 141 patients who met the inclusion criteria, the results of the study showed that the majority of patients with chronic cervicitis were between the ages of 18 and 44 years (81.6%), with the majority using hormonal contraception (11.3%) and having a parity of more than two children (72.3%). Cytopathological examination revealed predominant chronic inflammation with infiltration of neutrophils and lymphocytes, along with disturbed normal flora. Conclusion. This study demonstrates that age, parity, and the use of hormonal contraception are risk factors in the development of chronic cervicitis. Cytopathological examination revealed characteristic inflammation in patients with chronic cervicitis, which warrants special attention in diagnosis and management. It is expected that the results of this study will enhance the understanding of the clinical-cytopathological characteristics of chronic cervicitis and provide a foundation for better preventerimation and management strategies in the future. Keywords. Chronic cervicitis, clinical-cytopathological characteristics, pap smear
