KARAKTERISTIK DAN POLA PENYAKIT PADA PASIEN YANG MENDAPATKAN TERAPI NEUROFEEDBACK DI RSUP Dr. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background. Neurofeedback therapy is a non-pharmacological approach that trains patients to regulate their brain activity through an EEG-based feedback system. This method has been applied to support neurological recovery in conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, and sleep disorders. However, its clinical implementation in Indonesia remains limited. This study aimed to describe the characteristics and disease patterns of patients who underwent neurofeedback therapy at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital Palembang. Methods. This study used a descriptive observational design with secondary data obtained from medical records of patients in the neurorestoration unit from July to October 2025. The sampling technique employed total sampling, including all patients who met the inclusion criteria, with a total of 55 subjects. Observed variables included age, sex, training frequency and duration, protocol type, and medical diagnosis. Results. Among 55 patients analyzed, the adult group dominated with 33 patients (60%), followed by pre-elderly and elderly groups (each 18.2%), and children (3.6%). Females accounted for 56.4% of the sample. Most patients completed five or more sessions (70.9%) lasting at least 30 minutes (100%). The alpha-wave protocol was the most frequently used (89.1%), while the beta protocol was applied to 10.9% of patients. The most common diagnoses among neurofeedback users were stroke (12.7%), epilepsy (10.9%), and both dementia and insomnia (9.1%). Conclusion. Neurofeedback therapy was most commonly administered to adult patients using the alpha protocol. The findings suggest that this therapy has potential as a supportive rehabilitation option for neurological conditions, particularly stroke and epilepsy. Further studies with a broader population and primary data are recommended to strengthen these findings. Keywords.
