KARAKTERISTIK KLINIKOHISTOPATOLOGI LESI NEOPLASTIK DAN NON NEOPLASTIK SINONASAL DI RS MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2020-2024

Humairo, Nur Adilah - Personal Name;

Background: Sinonasal lesions are disorders of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses that include both neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions. The wide variation in lesion types and differences in characteristics by age and sex make analysis of sinonasal case patterns important to support appropriate management. This study aimed to determine the clinicohistopathological characteristics of sinonasal lesions at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang, during 2020–2024. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study using secondary data from medical records and histopathology reports in the Anatomical Pathology Installation of Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang, for the period 2020–2024. Results: Most patients were male (60.3%). Neoplastic lesions were most frequently found in the 51–60-year age group. Non-neoplastic lesions occurred more often in patients aged 31–40 years (23.5%). The most common presenting symptom was nasal obstruction. Histopathologically, non-keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma, inverted papilloma, and inflammatory polyps were the most frequent lesion types. Conclusion: Sinonasal lesions are more commonly found in males, with differing age distributions between neoplastic and non-neoplastic groups. Nasal obstruction was the predominant symptom, while the most frequent histopathological types differed across lesion categories. Keywords: Sinonasal, Neoplastic, Non-neoplastic, Nasal cavity.
