PERAN UNITED NATIONS INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION (UNIDO) DALAM PENGEMBANGAN INDUSTRI SUSTAINABLE BEAUTY DI INDONESIA

The Indonesian government has designated the cosmetics industry as one of the main driving industries for the Indonesian economy in the future. However, the rapid development of the cosmetics industry not only provides economic benefits for the country, but also has a negative impact on social and environmental conditions. In this case, UNIDO, as an international organization that focuses on inclusive and sustainable industrial development, is collaborating with the Indonesian Ministry of Industry through the IUCP cooperation framework to develop industrial areas to be more environmentally friendly. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The data analyzed comes from a review of literature studies such as journals, websites, annual report documents from organizations and companies, and other official sources. The research results indicate that UNIDO plays an important role in the development of the industrial sector in Indonesia, particularly in the cosmetic sector. The annual RCID forum organized by UNIDO aids Indonesia's efforts to enhance global competitiveness, market development, and foster cooperation in knowledge and industrial technology transfer with countries in the Asia- Pacific region. UNIDO also provides technical assistance by implementing the pilot project of the Global Eco Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP). UNIDO also participates in the implementation of the green chemistry approach aimed at addressing hazardous chemical waste issues in the industry.
