AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN DAN ANTIBAKTERI Staphylococcus epidermidis MINYAK ATSIRI KULIT BUAH JERUK KALAMANSI, JERUK NIPIS, DAN JERUK PURUT
Degenerative diseases and infections suffered by most of the Indonesian population. Free radicals are a major contributor to degenerative diseases. While infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic microorganisms, one of them is the bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis. The negative effects of free radicals and S. epidermis bacteria can be controlled using antioxidants and antibacterials. Synthetic antioxidants and antibacterials have carisogenic side effects and antibiotic resistance. So it is necessary to look for alternative medicines that have minimal side effects. The natural ingredients that are potentially used as natural antioxidant and antibacterial are the essential oils of calamansi orange, lime, and kaffir lime fruit peels. All three of these essentials contain compounds that have been tested to have antioxidant and anti-bacterial activity. The aim of this study was to analyze the antioxidant and Staphylococcus epidermidis antibacterial activities of essential oils from calamansi orange, lime, and kaffir lime fruit peels based on the IC50 and MIC values. The observed parameters are the decrease in the absorption of DPPH free radicals and the diameter of the inhibition zone. The results of the study were obtained from the IC50 values of essential oils from calamansi orange, lime, and kaffir lime fruit peels are 21.84 ppm, 65.03 ppm and 127.06 ppm respectively. And KHM is at a concentration of 50,000 ppm with average inhibitionzone diameters of 7.5 ppm, 7.17 ppm and 7.33 ppm respectively. The conclusion of this study is that the smallest IC50 is the essential oils from calamansi orange fruit peels and the KHM is at a concentration of 50.00 ppm with the average diameter of the largest inhibition zone is owned by the essential oils from calamansi orange fruit peels. Key words: Orange fruit peel, essential oil, antioxidant, antibacterial
