PERFORMA DYE SENSITIZED SOLAR CELL PADA KETEBALAN LAPISAN FIBER TISSUE KONTINU SEBAGAI MEDIA PENYERAP ELEKTROLIT

Dye sensitized solar cells represent a set of photoelectrochemical solar cells capable of converting light energy into electrical energy by harnessing plant-derived dyes as light sensitizer. One of the factors influencing the performance of a DSSC is the electrolyte. The addition of a fiber tissue layer to DSSCs can reduce evaporation in the electrolyte solution. The fiber tissue layers used in this study were derived from facial tissue. The objective of this research was to determine the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (efficiency and fill factor) on the thickness of continuous fiber tissue layers as electrolyte absorption media. This research was conducted from May to July 2024 at the Energy and Electrification Laboratory, Department of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sriwijaya. The study comprised of three stages: DSSC structure preparation, assembly and arrangement of DSSC layers, and DSSC measurements. The thickness variations of the fiber tissue layers used were two layers (0,027 cm), three layers (0,041 cm), four layers (0,054 cm), and using senduduk fruit extract dye. Parameters observed in this study included current and voltage characteristics, power calculations, fill factor, and DSSC efficiency. The results indicated that DSSC with an additional fiber tissue layer exhibited affected the electrical properties of the DSSC. The efficiency at a thickness of two fiber tissue layers was 0.00931%, and there was an increase in efficiency at a thickness of three fiber tissue layers, which was 0.01559 %, and a decrease in efficiency with the addition of four fiber tissue layers, which was 0.01049 %. The best DSSC performance used continuous fiber tissue with a thickness of three layers in experimental unit B. The electrical characteristics produced in the DSSC were Isc: 0.0283 mA, Voc: 738 mV, Imax: 0.0158 mA, Vmax: 233 mV, Pmax: 3.681 μW, FF: 0.1763, and efficiency of 0.01559 %.
