PERBANDINGAN STRUKTUR ANATOMI DURI TIPE PRICKLE, THORN, SPINE PADA BEBERAPA TUMBUHAN DAN SUMBANGANNYA DALAM PEMBELAJARAN BIOLOGI SMA
This study aims to determine the comparison of the anatomical structure of prickles, thorns, spines in several plants. The research was conducted in December 2023 - March 2024 at the Biology Education Laboratory, Sriwijaya University. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. Anatomical parameters include the type of constituent tissue in the longitudinal cross section of the spines and cross section of the stem. Based on observations, the prickles on Rose (Rosa hybrida) and Cempokak (Solanum torvum Sw.) plants consist of epidermal, sclerenchyma, and parenchyma tissues, lack vascular bundles, and have an abscission zone on the lateral side of the stem. The thorn type on Bougainvillea (Bougainvillea glabra Choisy) and Lime (Citrus aurantifolia) plants consists of epidermal, sclerenchyma, parenchyma tissues, and vascular bundles. The spine type on Cactus (Huernia macrocarpa A. Rich) and Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii Des Moul.) plants consists of epidermal, parenchyma tissues, vascular bundles, pith, and cortex. Thorns and spines both have vascular bundle tissues and no abscission zone is found. The results of this research can be used as enrichment material in the form of a booklet for high school biology education on the topic of plant tissue and organ structure. Key words: Anatomy, prickle, thorn, spine, biology
