PENGGUNAAN KERTAS ROTI SEBAGAI MEDIA SERAP ELEKTROLIT UNTUK MENINGKATKAN PERFORMA DYE SENSITIZED SOLAR CELL

Etria, Etria - Personal Name;

Dye sensitized solar cell is a third-generation solar cell that is environmentally friendly, utilizing natural dyes derived from plants as light absorbers. One of the key components that influences the performance of this type of solar cell is the electrolyte. However, the liquid electrolyte used still faces stability issues due to its susceptibility to evaporation. This study aims to investigate the effect of adding baking paper layers as an electrolyte absorption medium on the performance of DSSC. The baking paper used is a type of greaseproof paper that has water-resistant properties and is capable of gradually absorbing liquids. These properties help to retain the electrolyte within the cell and reduce the rate of evaporation. The study was conducted using variations of baking paper layers ranging from 1 to 6 layers. The results showed that the addition of layers significantly influenced the improvement of DSSC performance. The efficiency increased with the number of layers, reaching its optimal point at sample A6 (5 layers of baking paper). At this sample, the highest efficiency was recorded at 0.0797%, with electrical performance values of Voc: 0,602 mV, Isc: 0,1083 mA, Imax: 0,0876 mA, Vmax 0,252 mV, and fill factor 0,3386. These values indicate that at the thickness of 5 layers, the absorbent medium is capable of storing the electrolyte optimally without hindering ion transfer or the contact between electrodes. However, when the number of layers was increased to 6 (sample A7), the efficiency decreased to 0.0652%. This decline is attributed to the excessive thickness of the absorbent medium, which hampers ion transfer pathways, weakens the interaction between electrodes, and increases internal resistance within the DSSC system. The excessive thickness also leads to uneven electrolyte distribution, resulting in suboptimal cell performance.
