KERJA SAMA HANDING OVER MELALUI KEPOLISIAN REPUBLIK INDONESIA DENGAN KEPOLISIAN DIRAJA MALAYSIA TAHUN 2022 – 2023
Indonesia's relationship with Malaysia has been diplomatically established since August 31, 1957, when Malaysia declared its independence. In the aspect of security itself, Indonesia and Malaysia have established several collaborations so that both countries have common interests with the aim of improving better coordination between the two countries. Extradition is one of the steps used by the Indonesian National Police and the Royal Malaysian Police. In its implementation, extradition has a very long bureaucracy. Then, in the end there was handing over cooperation carried out by the Indonesian National Police with the Royal Malaysian Police. In the concept of bilateral cooperation put forward by K.J. Holsti, there is an interest that becomes the basis for an agreement between two countries to interact with each other in several existing fields in a mutually agreed manner and purpose. The research method used is a qualitative method by obtaining data, namely collected through literature studies and interviews. The results of this study with the handing over cooperation, the Indonesian National Police in 2022-2023 managed to repatriate 4 fugitives from Malaysia. Previously, from 2018, the Indonesian National Police had never succeeded in extraditing fugitives from the Indonesian National Police from Malaysia. That way, the handing over cooperation carried out by the Indonesian National Police with the Royal Malaysian Police was proven effective. Keywords: Handing Over, Interpol, Indonesian National Police
