Backgound : Instability of blood sugar levels is a variation in blood sugar levels up or down from the normal range. Management DM in hospitals only focuses on pharmacology and dietary therapy, but for self-management it not optimized. Effective self-management is obtained if an individual has the knowledge and skills to do self-care independently. One of them is diabetes self management education (DSME). DSME is an education provided to DM sufferers to provide knowledge, understanding and behavior needed in self-management. Objective: apply comprehensive nursing care and provide DSME with DM patients. Method: The method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. The provision of DSME includes 4 sessions. Session 1 discusses the basic knowledge of DM. Session 2 discussed definition, goals of DSME, diet 3 J, physical activity, foot care, foot exercises, and medication/insulin therapy. Session 3 is to reevaluate sessions 1 and 2. Session 4 is to remonitor blood glucose levels. Result and Discussion: The results of the case study review showed that the three managed patients experienced the same problem, namely instability of blood glucose levels. There are 3 other problems, namely acute pain, fatigue and risk of nutritional deficit. The interventions given were hyperglycemia management and DSME. DSME is an education about independent management of DM. DSME is also an effort to prevent complications, useful and can be applied anytime and anywhere. The implementation carried out for 3 consecutive days results of the problem being solved and the three patients experienced a decrease in blood glucose levels. Conclusion : The provision of diabetes self-management education (DSME) is able to reduce blood glucose levels in DM patients.
