KETERBUKAAN DIRI MAHASISWA PERANTAUAN KEPADA ORANG TUA MELALUI FITUR VIDEO CALL DALAM APLIKASI WHATSAPP DI FISIP ILMU KOMUNIKASI PALEMBANG
This research aims to determine the level of self-disclosure of students from other regions to their parents through the video call feature in the WhatsApp application at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Communication Science, Universitas Sriwijaya Palembang, using a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, tested with source triangulation, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman method. The results of the study show variations in self-disclosure, referring to the effort to share information with others, known as the Self- Disclosure Theory. The types of information disclosed include future plans, feelings, personal experiences, and more. This phenomenon highlights the importance of open communication and adequate technology in strengthening the relationships between students from other regions and their parents.
