PENGARUH VARIASI SUHU PROSES QUENCHING DENGAN MEDIA PENDINGIN MOLIBDENUM DISULFIDA (MoS2) OIL ADDITIVE TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI PADA BAJA KARBON SEDANG
This study aims to prove whether or not there is an effect of using higher temperatures in the quenching process on the corrosion rate of AISI 1045 steel and also to determine the effect of quenching media molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) oil additivve on the corrosion rate of AISI 1045 steel at different temperatures. The method used is pure experiment, 3 specimens were tested for corrosion using corrosive media sulfuric acid (H2SO4) for 8 days or 192 hours with the calculation of the corrosion rate using weight loss method. The 3 specimens consist of 1 specimen without treatment and 2 specimens through the quenching process with temperatures of 800 0C and 900 0C using molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) oil additive cooling media. The research results of specimen 1 without treatment experienced a weight reduction of 9.46 grams with a corrosion rate of 0.133087356 mpy. Specimen 2 with a temperature of 800 0C experienced a weight loss of 10.03 grams with a corrosion rate of 0.138514724 mpy. While for more weight loss but not too significant was obtained in specimen 3 with a higher temperature variation of 900 0C with a weight loss of 10.33 and a corrosion rate of 0.142268569 mpy. It can be concluded that the use of high temperatures in the quenching process can affect the increase in corrosion rate and the use of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) oil additive cooling media is proven to be able to inhibit the corrosion rate of AISI 1045 steel with different temperature variations.
