RASIONALITAS PEDAGANG LANJUT USIA DI PASAR LOAK CINDE PALEMBANG
This research discusses the rationality of elderly traders at the Cinde Flea Market Palembang, there are rational choices that influence the elderly at the Cinde Flea Market Palembang to keep working in old age. This research aims to find out how the rationality of elderly traders at the Palembang Cinde Flea Market and what encourages elderly traders at the Palembang Cinde Flea Market to keep working. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with 9 informants, namely 6 main informants and 3 supporting informants using data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. This research uses James Coleman's Rational Choice theory. The results showed that the rationality of elderly traders formed actors in their choices. In addition, elderly traders utilize existing resources in choosing to continue working, such as talents or skills possessed and ownership of the merchandise concerned and capital. In addition, there are four choices that encourage the decision to work by elderly traders at the Cinde Flea Market Palembang, namely the economic encouragement of old age, not wanting to be a burden on the family, utilizing free time in old age, convenience of place and no rental payments (retribution).
