KARAKTERISTIK MUTU ASAP CAIR DARI PROSES DISTILASI LIMBAH BIOMASSA PERTANIAN

Agnessia, Lola - Personal Name;

Coconut (Cocos nucifera) is a tropical plant commodity with high economic value, because almost all parts of the plant have the potential for commercial use. Oyster mushroom cultivation uses raw materials for making baglogs derived from a mixture of sawdust, rice bran, lime and mushroom seeds. The average productive life of mushroom baglogs is 4 months. After passing the productive life, mushroom baglogs become solid waste. Oyster mushroom baglog waste has not been utilized economically and optimally so that the remaining baglog planting media rots and can pollute the environment. Oyster mushroom baglogs and coconut shells have the potential to be used as raw materials for making liquid smoke. Liquid smoke is a blackish liquid fuel derived from biomass such as wood, bark, and industrial waste containing lignin, cellulose and hemicellulose. Liquid smoke is produced from the smoke condensation process in the pyrolysis combustion process and distillation. The study aims to determine the characteristics of liquid smoke from mushroom baglog biomass waste and coconut shells through the distillation process. The study aims to determine the characteristics of liquid smoke from mushroom baglog biomass waste and coconut shells through the distillation process. This study uses a statistical analysis of a factorial completely randomized design with two treatments, namely the type of liquid smoke material (mushroom baglog liquid smoke and coconut shell liquid smoke) and distillation temperature (80 ° C, 90 ° C, 100 ° C, 110 ° C). Each treatment was repeated 2 times. The parameters observed include physical characteristics (color) and chemical characteristics (pH, phenol, acetic acid, and specific gravity). The results of the study Distillation temperature significantly affected the increase in phenol, acetic acid, specific gravity, lightness (L *), and decreased redness (a *), yellowness (b *) values. The best treatment in this study was 110 C (coconut shell) with a lightness (L*) value of 84.41, redness (a*) 1.74, yellowness (b*) 6.65, pH 3.46, phenol 1.93%, acetic acid 3.92%, specific gravity 1.9443 g/cm3 Keywords: Liquid smoke, Distillation, Mushroom Baglog, Coconut shell, Temperature, Physical and chemical characteristics
