TINJUAN HISTORIS TRADISI CENGBENG(QINGMING) PADA MASYARAKAT ETNIS TIONGHOA DI KOTA PRABUMULIH (SEBAGAI SUMBANGAN UNTUK MATERI SEJARAH LOKAL)
This research is entitled "Historical Review of the Cengbeng (Qingming) Tradition of the Chinese Ethnic Community in the City of Prabumulih (Contribution of Local Historical Materials)". The problem of this research is how the history of the Cengbeng (Qingming) tradition in the city of Prabumulih and how the activities and values and meaning of the Cengbeng (Qingming) tradition are carried out in the life of the Chinese community in the city of Prabumulih. The purpose of this study is to find out the history of the Cengbeng (Qingming) tradition in the city of Prabumulih and the process of carrying out activities as well as the values and meaning of the Cengbeng (Qingming) tradition in the life of the Chinese community in the city of Prabumulih. The method used is historical research methods including heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, historiography. Data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. Based on the results obtained from this study, it can be concluded that the early history of the Cengbeng tradition, which began during the Ming dynasty and entered Indonesia, was brought by ethnic Chinese people who traded and settled in Indonesia. In carrying out the Cengbeng tradition, prayer equipment such as incense, candles, money is required. paper, clothes, paper shoes and two coins as well as food and drink offerings. And Cengbeng's activities begin with cleaning the ancestral graves and then continue with grave prayers and then end with cleaning up the food offerings and burning clothes, shoes made of paper and paper money as provisions for the ancestors. Apart from being a manifestation of the value of devotion to ancestors and parents, the Cengbeng tradition is also a manifestation of spiritual values, mutual cooperation, courtesy and also family values.
