PENGARUH JARAK ANTARPELAT ELEKTRODA STAINLESS STEEL PADA GENERATOR HHO TERHADAP PERFORMANSI SEPEDA MOTOR 4 LANGKAH
One alternative fuel to replace petroleum is HHO gas, which is a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen produced through the water electrolysis process. HHO gas consists of hydrogen (H₂) and oxygen (O₂) obtained from the electrolysis of water. The efficiency of HHO gas production is influenced by the distance between electrode plates, where a smaller spacing tends to result in higher gas production. This study employed three fuel variations: Pertamax, Pertamax with HHO gas at an electrode spacing of 1.5 mm, and Pertamax with HHO gas at an electrode spacing of 3.5 mm. Experimental testing was conducted using a prony brake dynamometer to calculate torque at engine speeds of 2000, 2500, 3000, and 4000 rpm. The results indicate that the addition of HHO gas provides a significant improvement in all engine performance parameters. At an electrode spacing of 1.5 mm, torque increased by 49%, power increased by 50.47%, brake specific fuel consumption decreased by up to 32.79%, and thermal efficiency increased by 58.40% compared to Pertamax. Meanwhile, an electrode spacing of 3.5 mm also resulted in performance improvements, although not as significant as those achieved with the 1.5 mm variation. Overall, this study concludes that a smaller distance between electrode plates leads to greater HHO gas production, resulting in more optimal engine performance. The addition of HHO gas has been proven to promote more effective combustion, increase torque, power, and thermal efficiency, and reduce fuel consumption.
