KARAKTERISTIK KLINIKOPATOLOGI KARSINOMA UROTHELIAL DI LABORATORIUM PATOLOGI ANATOMI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2020 - 2024
Urothelial carcinoma is the most common malignancy of the urinary tract and exhibits a wide range of clinicopathological characteristics that influence prognosis and patient management. Local data regarding the clinicopathological characteristics of urothelial carcinoma in Palembang remain limited; therefore, this study was conducted to provide a more representative overview. This study was a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional approach. Data were obtained from medical record archives of patients diagnosed with urothelial carcinoma at the Anatomical Pathology Laboratory of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from January 2020 to December 2024. Samples were collected using the total sampling method in accordance with the inclusion criteria. During the study period, a total of 141 cases of urothelial carcinoma were recorded, with fluctuating annual proportions of cases ranging from 12.8% to 29.8%. The majority of patients were in the 55–64-year age group (31.2%) and were male (80.1%). The most common tumor location was the urinary bladder (90.1%). The most frequently identified histopathological subtype was invasive urothelial carcinoma of the conventional type (66%), followed by the squamous differentiation subtype (13.5%). Urothelial carcinoma at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang during the 2020–2024 period was predominantly found in older patients, with a male predominance, primarily located in the urinary bladder, and most commonly presented as invasive urothelial carcinoma of the conventional type. The limitations of this study include its descriptive design based on medical records, limited variables, and data obtained from a single healthcare center; therefore, the findings cannot be generalized to a broader population.
