REPRESENTASI SELF AWARENESS PADA SERIAL ANIMASI BY THE GRACE OF THE GODS SEASON 2 (2023) (ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA CHARLES SANDERS PEIRCE)
This study examines the representation of self-awareness in the character Ryouma from the animated series By the Grace of The Gods Season 2 (2023) by applying Stuart Hall’s Representation Theory, Goleman’s Self-Awareness and Emotional Intelligence framework, and Peirce’s semiotic method. Six scenes were selected through purposive sampling and analyzed to identify how meaning is constructed through language, visuals, and social interactions. Findings show that Ryouma’s self-awareness develops progressively across the narrative. Emotional awareness appears through his reflections and emotional regulation, accurate self-assessment is demonstrated by his realistic evaluation of strengths and limitations, and self-confidence is shown in his strategic decision-making. Empathy emerges as he considers the needs of his employees and surrounding characters, while social skills are reflected in his communication, cooperation, feedback acceptance, and reputation management. Peircean semiotic analysis reveals that visual signs, dialogues, and internal monologues form interpretants that consistently lead to a more mature understanding of self. Overall, the series represents self-awareness as a continuous developmental process shaped by personal experiences and social interaction.
