Islamic education plays an important role in shaping students’ character and intelligence through the integration of knowledge and Islamic values. In Palembang City, the increasing public interest in Islamic-based junior high schools (SMP) has created challenges for parents in selecting the most appropriate school due to limited information and the complexity of decision criteria, such as school type, facilities, accreditation, distance, and tuition fees. This study aims to design and implement a web-based Decision Support System (DSS) using the Simple Multi-Attribute Rating Technique Exploiting Ranks (SMARTER) method to assist parents in selecting Islamic-based junior high schools according to their preferences. The SMARTER method was chosen for its ability to provide flexible and transparent criteria weighting through the Rank Order Centroid (ROC) approach. The data used in this study were obtained from Islamic-based junior high schools in Palembang City in 2025. The results indicate that the developed system is able to provide objective and systematic school recommendations. Validation involving 200 respondents resulted in a validity level of 87%, indicating that the system has a high level of reliability and suitability to user needs.
