PENGARUH CUKA PEMPEK TERHADAP STABILITAS WARNA PLAT RESIN AKRILIK POLIMERISASI PANAS SEBAGAI BASIS GIGI TIRUAN LEPASAN
Background: Heat-cured acrylic resin is one of the commonly used dental materials for the manufacture of denture bases. Color stability in acrylic resins is one of the most important clinical signs of aging or material deterioration after a long period of use, which can affect aesthetics. Factors that can affect the color stability of heat-cured acrylic resin includes acidic foods/beverages. Pempek vinegar is a pempek companion sauce that is often consumed by the public and has a low pH. Aim: This study aimed to determine the effect of pempek vinegar and soaking time on the color stability of heat-cured acrylic resin as removable denture bases. Method: This study was a laboratory experimental research with pre-test and post-test group design. The samples were 24 acrylic resins, size 65mm x 10mm x 2,5mm divided into 6 groups, which were 3 groups soaked in pempek vinegar and the other 3 groups soaked in aquadest for each 3 days, 5 days, and 7 days. Color stability was measured by colorimeter. The statistical tests were paired T-test and post hoc LSD. Results: The Paired T-test showed each group had significant color changes in the degree of dark-light (∆L*) . The largest color change was the group soaked in pempek vinegar for 7 days (mean=17,59). The lowest color change was the group soaked in aquadest for 3 days (mean=11,02). Conclusion: Pempek vinegar can cause discoloration in heat-cured acrylic resin and the longer it is soaked in pempek vinegar, the greater the degree of discoloration.
