PERBANDINGAN PENDIDIKAN KESEHATAN ANTARA MEDIA AUDIOVISUAL DAN BOOKLET TERHADAP PENGETAHUAN IBU HAMIL TENTANG PERAWATAN PERINEUM PADA MASA NIFAS BERBASIS HERBAL

Zapni, Syifa Syauqnia - Personal Name;

Perineal care was an essential component of basic postpartum care. Limited knowledge among pregnant women regarding perineal care could increase the risk of infection, delay healing, and reduce maternal comfort and quality of life. The use of herbal materials as an alternative perineal care method required further evaluation, and effective health education was needed to improve pregnant women’s knowledge of herbal-based perineal care. This study aimed to examine the difference in the effects of health education using audiovisual media and booklets on pregnant women’s knowledge of herbal-based perineal care in the working area of Indralaya Public Health Center. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest non-equivalent control group approach. A total of 44 pregnant women were selected using stratified random sampling and divided into an audiovisual media group and a booklet media group. The results show that the mean pretest score in the audiovisual group is 13.09 and the median posttest score is 19.00. In the booklet group, the median pretest score is 10.00 and increases to 18.50 at posttest. A significant increase in knowledge is observed in both groups after the intervention (p = 0.000 < 0.05). The Mann–Whitney test shows no significant difference between the two groups (p = 0.149 > 0.05). Both audiovisual media and booklets are equally effective in improving pregnant women’s knowledge of herbal-based perineal care and can be utilized as health education media in healthcare services.
