This research is based on the existing problem related to poverty which is still a major problem for the government even though the poverty rate is decreasing. This poverty is an important issue that requires coordinated and optimal policy discussions. This problem raises the problem formulation, namely how the formulation of policies related to poverty alleviation is carried out in Palembang City with a case study on the Palembang City Bappeda Litbang as a development planning institution. The purpose of this study is to determine the mechanism of poverty alleviation policy formulation in the Palembang City Bappeda Litbang. This study uses the formulation theory from Thomas R. Dye which aims to determine how the policy formulation mechanism is implemented with systematic stages. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive method to explain and describe how the formulation of policies related to poverty alleviation is implemented in the Palembang City Bappeda Litbang. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the formulation of policies related to poverty alleviation had been implemented properly according to existing procedures, although obstacles such as less than optimal data and information availability were encountered. This lack of optimization of the latest data and information resulted in unfairness in the provision of social assistance, resulting in inaccurate distribution of the assistance. This optimization is necessary and can be implemented through joint coordination to minimize obstacles.
