Poverty faced by families can be an incentive for housewives to work. In Kelurahan Anak Petai there are a number of housewives from poor families working as brick-making laborers. The purpose of this study is to understand the socio-economic conditions and strategies to increase the income of female brick-making laborers. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study research strategy. Data collection techniques were observation, interniew, and documentations The results of this study indicate that the socio-economic conditions of women brick workers are low education and as brick workers are the main joh with a relatively low income. This poverty condition can also be seen from the ownership of a fairly simple house and makeshift household furniture. There are three forms of income generation strategies. First, the preventive strategy, which is prevention before the unavailability of brick raw materials. The strategy is to work every day and print bricks quickly in order to maximize production and previous income. Second, the proactive strategy focuses on opportunities in the brick home industry in the form of flexibility in working hours. That way, female brick workers can extend their working hours and work in two brick home industries. Third, the diversification strategy, where female brick workers also have other jobs as traders and ironing laborers to increase income.
