The Indonesia Mozambique-Preferential Trade Agreement (IM-PTA) is a form of preferential trade agreement between Indonesia and Mozambique, which provides lower or even zero tariff benefits for some products traded between the two countries, enhancing their trade relations. Mozambique is Indonesia's 17th export destination and 18th import source on the African continent. Indonesia as a country that initiated the Indonesia Mozambique-Preferential Trade Agreement (IM-PTA) cooperation certainly has an interest in the formation of the cooperation agreement. This research uses the theory of National Interest according to K.J Holsti which has three stages of Indonesian Values and Interests, namely, short-term interests, medium-term interests and long-term interests. In this study, Indonesia tries to achieve its national interests in IM-PTA cooperation, namely increasing exports to member countries, expanding markets, achieving the interests of its citizens, maintaining strategic areas that have resources, and achieving the vision, mission and dreams in IM-PTA in the next few years.
