PERANCANGAN DAN SIMULASI STERILIZER BASKET PENGOLAH KELAPA SAWIT KAPASITAS 1 TON
This research aims to design and analyze the structure of a sterilizer basketused in the sterilization process of Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) of oil palm with a capacity of 1 ton. The study is motivated by the essential role of sterilization in maintaining palm oil quality by deactivating lipase enzymes and softening the fruits for easier processing. The design was carried out using SolidWorks 3D software, with dimensions based on the average size of FFB and a total capacity of 1 ton, having a diameter of 110 cm and a height of 200 cm. Structural analysis was conducted using SolidWorks Simulation under a total load of 1618 kg, representing both the FFB and basket weight. Two materials were compared, namely ASTM A-36 (low-carbon steel) and AISI 316L SS (stainless steel). The simulation results indicated that the maximum von Mises stress on the frame was 27 MPa for ASTM A-36 and 49 MPa for AISI 316L SS, both below their respective yield strengths. The maximum displacement for both materials was 0.17 mm. The Factor of Safety (FoS) values showed a significant difference, with 9.26 for ASTM A-36 and 3.43 for AISI 316L SS. Based on these findings, ASTM A-36 is recommended as the primary material for the sterilizer basket due to its higher safety margin and better structural efficiency.
