GAMBARAN PERILAKU PERSONAL HYGIENE PADA REMAJA SAAT MENSTRUASI
Personal hygiene during menstruation is an action carried out by individuals in the form of self-care to maintain cleanliness and reproductive health. Individuals who do not practice care and hygiene during menstruation will have a negative impact on their physical and mental well-being and overall health. This study aims to determine personal hygiene behavior in adolescents during menstruation. The research design used quantitative descriptive methods. The research sample consisted of 61 people taken using a cluster sampling technique. Data were collected using instruments in the form of questionnaires on respondent characteristics and behavior consisting of questionnaires on knowledge, attitudes, and personal hygiene practices or actions during menstruation. The respondents in this study were female students at SMP Negeri 1 North Indralaya who had menstruated and participated in the research until the end. Almost all respondents in this study were in the age range of 13-15 years with the age of menarche for some respondents being >12 years, and the largest number of respondents being class IX. The results showed that 59.0% of respondents had low knowledge, 41.0% had high knowledge, 68.9% had a negitive attitude, 31.1% had a positive attitude, 80.3% had clean practices or actions, and 19.7% had unclean practices or actions regarding personal hygiene during menstruation. Knowledge, attitudes, and practices or actions of personal hygiene during menstruation are related to internal and external factors. Care during menstruation is very important to improve knowledge, attitudes, and practices or actions towards personal hygiene that are still lacking during menstruation in female students.
