PERAN PEER GROUP DALAM MEMBENTUK PERILAKU MEROKOK PADAMAHASISWA FISIP UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
This thesis is entitled "The Role of Peer Groups in Shaping Smoking Behavior students of FISIP Sriwijaya University". This research problem discusses the reasons peer groups shape smoking behavior and how peer group activities shape smoking behavior in students. The aim of this research is to find out and analyze the background to peer groups in shaping smoking behavior and peer group activities in shaping smoking behavior in FISIP students at Sriwijaya University. The research method used was descriptive qualitative with a research strategy through observation, in-depth interviews with 12 informants, documentation and literature study, then this research was analyzed using Shaffer's peer group role theory. The results of this research show that the reasons or background of peer groups that shape smoking behavior are curiosity, family issues, eliminating depression and relieving oneself of boredom. Then peer group activities in shaping student smoking behavior include gathering to do assignments, waiting for class changes, organizational gatherings, hanging out in coffee shops and venting.
